Giving to WFSC
As a 501(c)(3), WFSC depends on the generosity of individuals and corporate donors to fund our activities. Funds will be used towards:
- Assisting eligible skaters competing in freestyle, ice dance, solo dance, adult skating in covering the overall cost of traveling and participating in National Events
- Assisting eligible synchro teams (Team Ashburn and DC EDGE) in defraying the cost of traveling and competing in National Events
- Funding towards social events, including Annual Meeting, Winter Social, and other events that build a closer community
- Providing goodie bags for officials and competitors to be distributed at WFSC competitions (NYI, Pickens, Potomac Open) for that extra special touch.
We are also grateful for in-kind gifts that can be used at competitions or test sessions. Examples include lanyards, lip balms, granola bars, flowers, and others.
If you are interested in donating, please fill out the form to the right along with your donation. Direct any questions to presidentofwfsc@gmail.com.
Capital Skating Fund
Purpose
Capital Skating Fund is a subsidiary of WFSC that supports ALL skaters in the DMV and does not require membership to WFSC. Funds are used to support the growth of skating in the region through grants towards eligible competitive skaters and organizations hosting events to grow the sport.
History
First established in 1989 as the Washington Figure Skating Education and Development Fund (WSFEDF) with proceeds from sponsoring the USFSA 1989 National Championships in Baltimore and the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships in Washington, DC, the WSFEDF changed their name to the Capitol Skating Fund (CSF) in 2006. For the past 31 years, the WSFEDF/CSF has supported skaters and skating organizations throughout the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia region as a 501c3 nonprofit entity. In 2020, the CSF has become part of the WFSC and the tradition carries on with management of the Fund by a select committee of figure skating enthusiasts from the WFSC including national and international officials, skaters and parents with years of vested interest in the sport of figure skating.
